My industry experience is what sets me apart from other individuals whose background is simply translation-based as I have the knowledge and insight into dealing with large businesses and the client skills which reflect the time I spent working in finance and market research.
I set up as freelance linguist in 2009, leaving my role as Manager at a translation company based in London to branch out on my own.
I graduated from the University of Liverpool with a degree in Modern European Languages, majoring in French, Spanish and Portuguese and receiving a distinction in recognition of my level of spoken Portuguese. My first graduate position was as an Overseas Mortgage Advisor, liaising with solicitors and banking organisations in France, Spain and Portugal on behalf of clients buying property abroad; taking the latter through mortgage offers and land registry documents and explaining the sales process.
Before attending University in 1998, I worked in Paris for six months and then for a further four months at a Market Research company in Madrid.
Throughout my career, I have always looked after my own portfolio of clients who have been able to rely on my professional standards and industry experience, delivering consistently high quality results in a variety of situations and environments.
I have built my client base by way of recommendations from fellow translators and companies and individuals with whom I have built up close links throughout my professional life.
